At The Source, January is more than just the start of a new year. It’s a time to celebrate National Mentoring Month, an initiative that underscores the vital role of youth mentoring in building stronger, more resilient communities. Working to empower youth and caregivers alike throughout Sacramento, The Source is at the forefront of providing unmatched support and mentorship to local youth.
The Importance of Foster Youth Support
Our mission revolves around supporting foster youth and their families. We understand the unique challenges faced by foster youth and are committed to offering a safety net through our comprehensive services. Whether it’s through our 24-hour Crisis Support, Mobile Support Team, or personalized guidance through our Youth Peer Mentors, we aim to make a tangible difference in young lives.
Caregiver Support: A Pillar of Strength
Caregivers often find themselves in need of support and guidance as well, and we’re here to provide it! Our services are designed to assist in overcoming familial challenges, offering them a helping hand through caregiver support groups and direct support from experienced counselors in an effort to enrich their lives while relieving the stress and uncertainty that they often deal with.
Round-the-Clock Assistance with 24 Hour Crisis Support
We offer 24 Hour Crisis Support to ensure that help is always available. Our dedicated team is just a call away, prepared to assist in times of need, reinforcing our commitment to the well-being of every youth and caregiver within our reach. Once mobile response is requested our team comes in with a wealth of knowledge and training in a variety of areas to help de-escalate situations. Our team will then provide the necessary resources such as connection to long term mental health services to housing support services and any other services that may aid in relief. Afterwards, our team will follow up with the youth and family to ensure that they are stable and have what they need on their mental health journeys.
Mobile Support Team: Reaching Out When It Matters Most
The Mobile Support Team at The Source ensures that no youth in need is left behind. With 24/7 free, confidential face-to-face assistance in schools, homes, or any safe community locations, we ensure that support is accessible and effective. This part of our service has helped so many families deal with challenging situations and provides that extra step of support when life can be overwhelming. We want our community to know they are not alone in this journey and our compassionate team can be there when and where they need us most.
Youth Peer Mentors: Guiding the Next Generation
In the spirit of National Mentoring Month, The Source emphasizes the transformative power of youth peer mentors. These mentors play a crucial role in guiding the next generation by offering more than just advice; they provide companionship, resilience-building, and life skills essential for overcoming challenges. Within the nurturing environment of Sacramento, Citrus Heights, and North Highlands neighborhoods, our youth peer mentors are instrumental in shaping futures by sharing lived experiences that resonate deeply with those they assist.
At The Source, National Mentoring Month serves as a catalyst to spotlight the significance of youth peer mentorship. This month is dedicated to celebrating the inspiring stories of youth who have transformed their lives with the help of peer mentors. By focusing on fostering youth support, our mentors help bridge the gap between personal challenges and success.
Our Youth Peer Mentors stand resilient, embodying the community spirit necessary to create a nurturing and supportive environment. By serving as relatable role models, they not only alleviate immediate challenges through our Youth Helpline and Mobile Support Team but also ignite long-term growth and development. This mentorship extends beyond individual impact to influence communities, fortifying the social fabric of Sacramento.
